Meet the Instructors
Patrice Davis, MS, CGMS | Founder
Patrice Davis, founder and CEO of GrantWin and lead trainer for GrantWin Academy. She brings over 20 years of federal grant expertise to every training she develops.
Her experience spans both sides of the grant table: as a grantee, she has obtained and managed over $300 million in funding from more than 20 federal, state, and local agencies for nonprofits and a top research university.
As a former federal employee at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), she reviewed continuation applications, coordinated research grant review panels, and organized site visits—giving her rare insight into how federal agencies create funding opportunities, assess applications, and monitor grantees.
She has managed grants as a recipient, subrecipient, and pass-through entity, and served as a fiscal consultant during state agency monitoring visits.
Patrice is one of approximately 313 Certified Grants Management Specialists (CGMS) in the U.S. as of 2024 and brings deep knowledge of Uniform Guidance to her work. She is a member of the National Grant Management Association, Grant Professionals Association, and Georgia Grant Professionals Association, and serves on the Thompson Grants Expert Panel. She is also the host of the Federal Grants Explained podcast.
Kelly Fraser, MPH, CGMS | Lead Grant Consultant
Kelly Fraser is the Lead Grant Consultant at GrantWin, where she manages a federal grant portfolio exceeding $20 million and delivers comprehensive post-award management services to clients.
In this role, she provides expert guidance on federal grant compliance, leads training sessions for clients, and oversees the professional development of the consulting team. Kelly ensures that her clients meet all regulatory requirements and supports them in preparing financial and programmatic reports, resolving any challenges along the way.
With a background in global development, public health, and disaster relief, Kelly has worked with major federal agencies including USAID, CDC, DOJ, DOE, HHS, EDA, and the EPA.
Her experience includes managing subawards, conducting compliance reviews, and providing strategic oversight to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Before joining GrantWin, she supported a diverse range of organizations in the global health and international disaster relief sectors, further deepening her expertise in managing complex, multi-sector grant portfolios. Kelly also supports the company’s business development efforts by fostering strong client relationships and preparing customized proposals.
A Certified Grant Management Specialist (CGMS), Kelly is committed to driving efficiency and ensuring that organizations use federal funding effectively to achieve long-term impact.
Dr. Patrese Nelson, PhD, Mdiv, MBA, BS | Financial Consultant
Dr. Patrese Nelson is a distinguished Financial Strategist and Grant Management Consultant with over 15 years of experience advancing regulatory compliance, internal controls, and financial accountability across the nonprofit, public, healthcare, and charter school education sectors. She holds a Ph.D. from Shepard’s Care College, an MBA in Business Administration from the University of Bridgeport, and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Lehman College.
Dr. Nelson has a proven track record of managing complex, multi-million-dollar federal and state grant portfolios—including funding from NIH, HHS, EPA, SAMHSA, HUD, and DOE—while ensuring full compliance with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), FASB, GASB, and specific grantor requirements. Her professional journey includes leadership roles at institutions such as Stamford Hospital, WellStar, Grady Hospital, and Aid Atlanta. Since 2020, she has served as a trusted consultant to organizations such as the Cleveland Clinic, Atlanta Regional Commission, Atlanta Community Food Bank, International Code Council, and the City of Eureka.
Her ability to translate regulatory complexity into clear, actionable systems has made her a go-to expert for organizations seeking to build audit-ready infrastructures, mitigate financial risk, and ensure strategic use of public funds.
