This training series requires an intermediate skill level. Participants should have some work experience and knowledge of or experience with federal grants or federal grant budgets.
The training series starts with Federal Grants Fundamentals, continues with an in-depth overview of the Notice of Award, award budgets, and subrecipients, and ends with standard federal grants management practices such as reporting, managing drawdowns, audit requirements, Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200 and 45 CFR 75), prior approvals, and more.
What is the course update policy?
All training content will contain the most recent publication or revision date, and the revision date will be published on the website and in the training portal. Training content will be revised as soon as feasible following changes to the relevant federal laws, rulings, decisions, and regulations. Training content will be reviewed by an individual with subject matter expertise at least once a year. For group live and group Internet-Based programs, the revision or review date is the date of the event.
What is the qualified assessment grading policy?
All participants who take the Federal GrantIQ™ Training Series who wish to have the training considered for Continuing Professional Education credits must complete 100% of each of the three videos and have a combined passing score of at 80% for each of the three assessments. Each module also has review questions.

Who developed this training?
The training was created by Patrice Davis, founder and CEO of GrantWin and lead trainer for GrantWin Academy. She brings over 20 years of federal grant expertise to every training she develops.
Her experience spans both sides of the grant table: as a grantee, she has obtained and managed over $300 million in funding from more than 20 federal, state, and local agencies for nonprofits and a top research university.
As a former federal employee at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), she reviewed continuation applications, coordinated research grant review panels, and organized site visits—giving her rare insight into how federal agencies create funding opportunities, assess applications, and monitor grantees.
She has managed grants as a recipient, subrecipient, and pass-through entity, and served as a fiscal consultant during state agency monitoring visits.
Patrice is one of approximately 313 Certified Grants Management Specialists (CGMS) in the U.S. as of 2024 and brings deep knowledge of Uniform Guidance to her work. She is a member of the National Grant Management Association, Grant Professionals Association, and Georgia Grant Professionals Association, and serves on the Thompson Grants Expert Panel. She is also the host of the Federal Grants Explained podcast.
